Abstract

School libraries play a crucial role as learning resource centers supporting student literacy. However, the current book management at SMK Media Informatika relies on conventional methods, causing inefficient data recording, risk of physical book loss, and limited student access to reading materials outside school hours. This research aims to design and develop an integrated, web-based digital library information system to provide a comprehensive solution to these issues. The software development method employed is the Design Thinking approach, comprising five key stages: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. This approach focuses on gaining a deep understanding of user needs to create highly relevant solutions. The outcome of this research is a digital library platform facilitating interaction among administrators, teachers, and students. The system features key functionalities including administrator-validated requests for PDF access, an automated one-hour reading limit, bulk book upload, and logging of reading history and reviews. The implementation of this system expands students' digital literacy with greater flexibility, safeguards school document assets, and fosters a structured reading culture at SMK Media Informatika.
