Reviewer Guidelines

Journal of Multidisciplinary and Intellectual Research (JMIR) greatly values the contributions of peer reviewers in maintaining the quality and integrity of our published work. This guide outlines the expectations, responsibilities, and procedures for reviewers involved in our double-blind peer review process.

1. Reviewer Responsibilities

As a reviewer, you are expected to:

  • Evaluate the manuscript critically, fairly, and professionally
  • Maintain confidentiality and anonymity throughout the review process
  • Avoid conflicts of interest with the author(s)
  • Provide constructive and detailed feedback to help authors improve their work
  • Submit your review within the assigned deadline (generally 2–3 weeks)

2. Review Criteria

Manuscripts should be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Originality – Is the work novel and does it contribute to the field?
  • Relevance – Does it align with JMIR's scope and target readership?
  • Methodology – Are the methods rigorous, valid, and clearly explained?
  • Clarity – Is the article well-organized and understandable?
  • References – Are the references current and appropriate?
  • Impact – Does the study have theoretical or practical significance?

3. Review Recommendations

After evaluating the manuscript, please choose one of the following recommendations:

  • Accept – The manuscript is ready for publication.
  • Minor Revisions – Requires small changes but is fundamentally sound.
  • Major Revisions – Requires significant improvements before reconsideration.
  • Reject – Not suitable for publication in JMIR.

4. How to Submit Your Review

All reviews must be submitted through the OJS system:

  1. Log in to your reviewer account at the JMIR website.
  2. Click on the manuscript title under “Review Assignments.”
  3. Download the manuscript and supplementary files if any.
  4. Enter your review comments in the appropriate sections:
    • For Authors: Provide constructive feedback without revealing your identity.
    • For Editors: Share any confidential concerns or specific editorial suggestions.
  5. Select your recommendation and submit your review.

5. Ethical Considerations

Reviewers must adhere to ethical guidelines, including:

  • No use of manuscript content for personal or professional advantage
  • No sharing or discussing the manuscript with others
  • Immediate disclosure of any potential conflict of interest

6. Acknowledgment

JMIR acknowledges the invaluable role of reviewers. We maintain a list of reviewers annually and may issue certificates of appreciation for active contributors.
