Double-Blind Peer Review Procedure

The Journal of Information Technology and Informatics Engineering applies a double-blind peer review process to ensure the scientific quality, objectivity, and originality of every manuscript submitted for publication. The review process consists of the following stages:

1. Manuscript Submission

Authors must submit their manuscripts through the journal’s online system (Open Journal Systems/OJS). Submissions must be within the journal’s scope and comply with the author guidelines.

2. Initial Editorial Screening

The editorial team conducts an initial screening to assess:

  • Alignment with the journal’s aims and scope
  • Compliance with formatting and submission guidelines
  • Plagiarism screening using appropriate software
  • Completeness of all manuscript components

Manuscripts that do not meet the minimum requirements may be rejected at this stage (desk rejection).

3. Assignment to Reviewers

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. The identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed (double-blind) to ensure objectivity.

4. Peer Review Evaluation

Reviewers assess the manuscript based on the following criteria:

  • Novelty and originality of the research
  • Methodological rigor
  • Accuracy and validity of data analysis
  • Relevance and adequacy of literature references
  • Clarity of conclusions and contribution to the field
  • Quality of academic writing

Reviewers provide one of the following recommendations:

  • Accept without revision
  • Accept with minor revisions
  • Accept with major revisions
  • Reject

5. Editorial Decision

Based on reviewers’ comments, the editor will:

  • Communicate the decision to the authors
  • Provide detailed reviewer feedback and revision instructions
  • Determine whether a re-review is required after revision

6. Author Revision

Authors are given a maximum of 2 weeks for minor revisions and 4 weeks for major revisions. A revision response letter explaining all changes must accompany the revised manuscript.

7. Re-Review (If Required)

For major revisions, the revised manuscript may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation. Minor revisions may be assessed directly by the editor.

8. Final Decision

The editor makes the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection based on the overall review results and the adequacy of revisions.

9. Production and Publication

Accepted manuscripts proceed to the production stage, including copyediting, layout formatting, and proofreading, prior to publication in the scheduled issue.

10. Ethics and Appeals

Authors and reviewers are required to comply with the journal’s publication ethics. Appeals concerning editorial decisions must be submitted in writing to the editorial board.

Note:
All processes are managed through the OJS system.
The typical peer review timeline ranges from 4 to 8 weeks.
