Abstract

Lais District Office is a sub-district level public service unit located in Musi Banyuasin Regency. In carrying out its duties to serve and facilitate various administrative needs of the community, obstacles are still found such as the slow letter submission process, as well as limited time and place in the service. These problems cause low efficiency and quality of public services provided. This study aims to build a web-based public service system using the CodeIgniter framework, to make it easier for the public to submit administrative requests online anytime and anywhere, only by using a device connected to the internet. In the development process, the Extreme Programming (XP) method is used which consists of the stages of planning, design, coding, and testing. This method was chosen because it is adaptive and iterative, and is able to adjust the system to user needs quickly. To ensure that the system functionality is in accordance with user needs, testing is carried out using the Black-Box Testing method. This testing focuses on input and output validation without considering the internal structure of the program. The test results show that all system functionality runs well according to the specified specifications. Thus, this web-based public service system is expected to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of administrative services in Lais District.
