Plagiarism Policy

The Journal of Multidisciplinary and Intellectual Research (J-MIR) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. All submitted manuscripts must be original works and must not contain plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, or other forms of research misconduct.

Every manuscript submitted to J-MIR is screened using professional plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin and/or iThenticate before entering the peer-review process. The maximum acceptable overall similarity index is 20%, excluding references, quotations, bibliography, and properly cited sources. Regardless of the similarity percentage, significant overlap in the manuscript's core scientific content is not permitted.

Forms of Plagiarism

The following practices are considered plagiarism and constitute serious violations of publication ethics:

  1. Direct Plagiarism – Copying text, figures, tables, or ideas from another source without proper acknowledgment.
  2. Self-Plagiarism – Republishing or substantially reusing one's own previously published work without appropriate citation or editorial approval.
  3. Mosaic Plagiarism – Combining text, ideas, or phrases from multiple sources without proper attribution.
  4. Improper Citation – Providing inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading citations that fail to credit the original source.
  5. Data Plagiarism – Using research data, images, graphs, or datasets belonging to others without permission or proper citation.
  6. AI Misconduct – Submitting AI-generated content as original scholarly work without appropriate human authorship, verification, and disclosure where required.

Similarity Assessment

Similarity Index Editorial Decision
0–10% Generally acceptable.
11–20% May proceed after editorial evaluation if similarity originates from properly cited sources.
Above 20% Normally returned to the author for revision or rejected depending on the nature of the overlap.

Editorial Actions in Cases of Plagiarism

  • Manuscripts containing suspected plagiarism will undergo editorial investigation.
  • If plagiarism is identified before peer review, the manuscript may be rejected immediately.
  • If plagiarism is detected during peer review, the review process will be suspended until the issue is resolved.
  • If plagiarism is discovered after publication, J-MIR reserves the right to issue corrections, expressions of concern, or retract the article in accordance with COPE Retraction Guidelines.
  • Authors responsible for serious ethical misconduct may be prohibited from submitting manuscripts to J-MIR for a specified period.
  • Cases involving research misconduct may be reported to the authors' affiliated institutions when necessary.

Author Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all submitted work is original.
  • Properly acknowledge all sources through accurate citations and references.
  • Obtain permission for copyrighted materials when required.
  • Verify originality before submission using plagiarism detection software whenever possible.
  • Accept full responsibility for the authenticity and integrity of the submitted manuscript.

Publication Ethics Compliance

J-MIR follows internationally recognized publication ethics standards, including the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), to ensure fairness, transparency, and integrity throughout the editorial and publication process.
